Long-term Spanish courses and gap year

Staying for several months is the most effective – and, per week, the most affordable – way to become fluent. Long-term programmes combine an intensive course with holiday weeks, and many schools offer lower weekly prices from 12 or 24 weeks.

Many long-term students use the time for a gap year or sabbatical, to prepare for a Spanish university or an official DELE exam, or simply to live in Spain for a while.

How it works

  • Choose the length of your stay: popular options are 3, 6, 9 and 12 months.
  • You can take a week off for holidays every few weeks on most long-term programmes.
  • Students from outside the EU usually need a student visa for stays of more than 90 days; the school provides the enrolment letter for the application.
  • Long-term accommodation at special rates is available in host families, shared flats and residences.
