Booking
Why should I book with Estudia-España?
You get the same course at the same school, usually at a lower price: we pass on part of our commission as a discount. On top of that you get personal advice from people who know the schools, and you pay nothing until your place is confirmed.
How does booking work?
Choose a destination and a school, then use the booking form to pick your course, accommodation, dates and extras. You see the full price before you send the request. Sending the booking form is a free, non-binding request.
What happens after I send my booking request?
You get an email with your reference straight away. We ask the school to confirm availability and then send you a confirmation with our binding offer: the final price, the deposit (registration fee) and the payment deadlines. The contract is concluded as soon as the registration fee has been received in our account.
How quickly will I hear from you?
We check availability with the school and get back to you within 2 working days at the latest. Please wait for our confirmation before you book flights.
Can I book at short notice?
In most cases, yes – but contact us first if your course starts within the next few days. If the course starts within 5 weeks, the full amount is paid to us after the confirmation.
Can I book together with a friend or partner?
Yes. You can book for two students in one request, and they can share accommodation where the school offers it. Mention any wishes in the special requests field.
Prices and payment
Is it really cheaper than booking directly with the school?
On nearly every course, yes. Our course price is the school’s official price minus our discount, and the price tables show the school’s own price next to ours. Fees and accommodation are charged at the school’s prices.
What is included in the prices?
Course prices include all mandatory fees of the school, such as the registration fee. Accommodation, optional extras and high-season supplements come on top and are shown in the price summary before you send your request. Schools in Spain are priced in euros, some schools in Latin America in US dollars.
How and when do I pay?
After the confirmation you pay a deposit (registration fee) to us within 7 days – usually around 20% of the total price, at least €50 / US$50. The rest goes directly to the school at least 5 weeks before the course starts; we remind you before that date. The deposit is part of the total price, not an extra charge.
Can I pay everything to you in one payment?
Yes. Tick the option in the booking form and you pay the full amount to us in one bank transfer; we then pay the school. For courses starting within 5 weeks this is how it works anyway.
Which payment methods can I use?
Bank transfer only. Please choose the option where you pay all bank charges (“OUR”), so that the full amount arrives. The bank details are in your confirmation.
What is the price match?
If you find the identical course cheaper within 14 days of your booking request, we match the price. It covers the course price only, the offer must be public and in writing, and package offers, group rates, vouchers, summer camps and school trips are excluded. See the full conditions.
Courses
I’m a complete beginner. Can I join?
Of course. Unless you are an absolute beginner, you take a short level test, depending on the school before you arrive or on your first day, and are placed in a class of your level. At some schools beginners can only start on certain dates – the booking calendar shows them.
When do courses start?
Most courses start every Monday; some, like exam courses and camps, have fixed dates. The booking form only offers start dates that are possible for the course you choose.
How big are the classes and how long is a lesson?
It depends on the school. The maximum class size and the length of a lesson are listed under “Good to know” on every school page.
Are classes in the morning or in the afternoon?
The school sets the timetable on your first day. Most classes are in the morning, but especially in summer some groups are taught in the afternoon. Some schools offer guaranteed morning classes for a small weekly fee (currently €15 a week) on courses with up to 20 lessons a week.
What about public holidays and lessons I miss?
There are no classes on public holidays. Whether those lessons are made up depends on the school and is shown on the school page and in the booking calendar. Lessons you miss yourself, for example through illness, are not made up.
Will I get a certificate?
Yes, every student receives a certificate of attendance at the end of the course. If you want an official exam such as DELE or SIELE, have a look at our exam preparation courses; the exam fee is charged separately.
Do you have courses for children and teenagers?
Yes: summer camps and junior programmes for young learners from about 5 to 18, each with its own age range. Adult courses have a minimum age, shown on the school page. Students under 18 must be booked by a parent or legal guardian.
Can I use a course for Bildungsurlaub (educational leave)?
If you work in Germany, yes – but only with a course that is approved for Bildungsurlaub in the federal state where you work. Our Bildungsurlaub page lists the approved courses and explains the rules and how to apply.
Accommodation and arrival
What kind of accommodation can I book?
Depending on the school: a host family, a room in a shared apartment with other students, or a student residence. Each school page describes its options, with meals, room types and prices.
When does the accommodation start, and can I arrive earlier?
Accommodation usually starts the day before your course and ends after it; the booking form shows the exact days. Extra nights before or after can be requested in the booking form and are subject to availability.
Is there a security deposit for the accommodation?
Some accommodation asks for a security deposit, which you pay to the school or host on arrival and get back at the end of your stay. It is shown under “More about this” of that accommodation in the booking form and in your confirmation.
I have allergies or a special diet. What should I do?
Tell us in the special requests field when you book, so that we can inform the school. Some host families charge a supplement for special diets; in a shared apartment you cook for yourself.
Can you organise my airport transfer?
No, we do not arrange airport transfers or other transport. Once your booking is confirmed, please ask your school how to get from the airport or station to your accommodation.
Are flights included?
No. We do not arrange flights or other transport – you usually find the best deals yourself. Please wait for our confirmation before you book them.
Before you travel
Do I need a visa?
That depends on your nationality, the country and the length of your stay. Please check with the consulate or embassy of the country where you will study. If you need a visa, tick the option in the booking form: the school provides the enrolment letter once your booking is paid as required.
Do I need insurance?
We strongly recommend travel cancellation insurance and health insurance that covers you abroad. Check with your insurer what is covered in the country you are travelling to.
Changes and cancellation
Can I change my booking?
Please send change requests to us in writing (email is fine) as early as possible; we pass them on to the school straight away. The school’s change conditions apply. Once your course has started, you can also ask the school directly, for example to extend your stay.
What if I need to cancel?
Tell us in writing. Within 14 days of paying the deposit you can withdraw from your contract with us. The deposit (registration fee) is fully refundable if you cancel. If the school’s terms charge a cancellation fee, the registration fee we hold is set against it: you never pay more than the school’s fee in total, and we refund anything the school does not charge. Details are in sections 6 and 7 of our terms and conditions.
What if something is wrong during my stay?
Tell the school straight away so that it can solve the problem, and please let us know too – we will help.
Contact and privacy
How can I reach you, and in which languages?
We advise you in English, German and Polish. Write to us via the contact form, or use the email address or phone number at the bottom of every page.
What do you do with my data?
We use your details to handle your booking and pass on what the school needs. We only send you our newsletter if you tick the box, and you can unsubscribe at any time. Everything else is in our privacy policy.
