Learn Spanish in Buenos Aires, the capital of tango and one of Latin America’s great cities.
Buenos Aires is a city of wide avenues, grand cafés and lively neighbourhoods, with around three million people in the city itself. Our school here is Expanish Buenos Aires, in Palermo, one of the liveliest neighbourhoods for cafés, restaurants and nightlife.
Why Buenos Aires is a great place to learn Spanish
In Buenos Aires you hear Rioplatense Spanish every day, with its famous ‘vos’ and the soft ‘sh’ sound. The city has an enormous cultural life – theatres, bookshops, live music and tango – and many international students, so it is easy to make friends. Latin American Spanish also opens doors across the whole continent.
- Culture Visit the Teatro Colón, the colourful houses of La Boca and El Ateneo Grand Splendid, a theatre turned into one of the world’s most beautiful bookshops.
- Tango Take a class or join a milonga, the traditional tango evenings that run late into the night.
- Food Try Argentine steak at a parrilla, empanadas and dulce de leche, and join the locals for mate in the parks of Palermo.

Every neighbourhood has its own character, from historic San Telmo with its Sunday market to modern Puerto Madero by the river. The ferry to Colonia in Uruguay, the Tigre delta and the pampas are easy trips from the city.
